Wow!  This summer has flown by!

We have done a lot of traveling this summer!  I was able to attend a language coach workshop in Chicago, to prepare me for helping our new missionaries in their language-learning process; we went to our annual meeting with all the other Mexico missionaries; and, of course, we have made other visits and travels to families working with indigenous groups.  It has been a busy but blessed summer.  We have also returned to homeschooling our children, so that we can be together more as a family.  Please continue to pray for us as we travel and as we facilitate the missionaries working in the various villages, so that they may learn the language and reach out with the Hope that we find in Jesus.

Oral Bible Translation Training

Do you realize that there are over 300 language dialects spoken in Mexico? Over 10% of the population speaks something other than Spanish!  A large percentage of those who speak these dialects are unable to read and for many the Bible is not written in their language.  Missionaries in Mexico are learning how to speak these languages so that they can communicate God’s Story to these people in an oral presentation of God’s Word.  Pray for their preparation and that they God would help them learn these difficult languages.

We would like to ask you to be praying for our upcoming training session.  All the families that arrived in May, one new family, and quite a few others from around the world will all be coming to Puebla in September for this event.  There is a team from Tennessee coming to care for our MK’s.  Please pray for the organization of the training event, for safe travel for all those coming to Puebla, good health during the training, and most of all that God will speak through the trainers, so that His kingdom may be expanded.

The Chatino People

It has been a while since I have taken the time to introduce you to another indigenous group.  This month, I would like to introduce you to the Chatinos.  Though adorned in some of the most beautiful embroidery in Southern Mexico and though rich in culture, the Chatino (cha-TEEN-oh) Indians, who live in the southern portions of the state of Oaxaca (wah-HA-kah) are held captive to their animistic religions, that have been combined with Catholicism over the years,

as well as to violence that has started over the last few years, concerning land rights.  There are no exact statistics as to how many Chatinos are evangelical Christians, but we do know that the number is less than two percent.  Please pray for the Chatinos.  Pray that they will find freedom and victory in Christ.  Pray for workers who will be willing to go and live among the people and share the Good News with them.
