Urgent! Volunteers Needed for January!
Oral Bible Storying Training
We recently completed Orality and Bible Storying training for missionaries living in several other countries. The training was received very well and our prayer is that God would call people from these countries to serve amongst the unreached people groups of Mexico. There will be additional training in November and again in December as Church Planting through Orality and Bible Storying will be shared with hundreds of others.
In January, we will be doing an advanced storying workshop for our missionaries involved in One Story projects. Each family will have three Bible stories as well as a legend from the people group and some sayings and proverbs. All of these recordings will be in the indigenous languages they are studying. Quite a challenge, I’d say, but they are all doing so well in their language progression. I know they can do it, because you are regularly taking them to the Lord in prayer.

Pray for Oaxaca |

In May, the teachers of the state of Oaxaca went on strike. The violence in this beautiful, culturally-rich city has increased tremendously since that time. It is now not only the teachers but others have joined in the civil unrest against the government. While it is fairly safe to get about during the day, the nights are rather dangerous, requiring most people to remain in their homes and barricades are erected on most roads. Many buses and police cars have been burned, and their remains are being used to block entrances to many streets. The military arrived over this past weekend to hopefully begin to restore some order to this city. Oaxaca is saturated with an indigenous presence. We know from the history of church planting that times of crises are often times of rapid spread of the Gospel. Please pray that order will be restored to the city of Oaxaca but most of all that the people will draw near to the Lord for their safety and refuge. Pray that many of the indigenous people in the city will come to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior and will burn with a desire to return to their villages with the Good News of Him! Also pray for our missionary families who are there, as well as the many other missionaries with various organizations, that they will remain safe and will know when it is time to take advantage of the opportunity for the growth of God’s kingdom. |
